Our journey began over 40 years ago when Derrick Sutton started mixing industrial soaps and bleaches by hand using a cut off barrel and a broom handle. This unique method quickly earned the business the affectionate nickname “Broomstick Industries”, a name still heard around the office today. In fact, Derrick’s son, John Sutton, our very own mad scientist and Managing Director, still believes the best way to mix chemicals is with a brush handle in a barrel!
Over the decades, the business has grown and evolved into one of the industry’s largest and most comprehensive suppliers.
After trading from our Ashton-on-Ribble site for more than 30 years, it became clear in 2022 that we had outgrown the premises. This led to our move to a larger 7,000 sq ft facility on the outskirts of Preston, in the village of Garstang.
The new site allowed us to expand every aspect of our operation and also marked the beginning of our sister company, North Coat, which provides a full alloy wheel refurbishment service. Having this facility in house meant we could fully test our products and equipment before bringing them to market, giving our customers complete peace of mind.
As the business continued to grow, it became clear that the paint stripping side of the operation was no longer aligned with our long term vision. We wanted to focus fully on developing our chemical range alongside the equipment we manufacture and supply. As a result, Ribble Technology (Preston) Ltd in Ashton-on-Ribble officially closed its doors in 2023.
Alongside our extensive product range, we also specialise in blending chemicals to customer specifications. From industrial cleaners and degreasers to specialist metal pretreatment chemicals, we work closely with customers to develop high quality solutions tailored to their exact requirements. This flexibility and technical expertise allow us to support businesses across a wide range of industries with reliable, effective chemical products manufactured to the highest standards.
