RSP01M is a highly concentrated, water-dilutable paint stripper developed for use in industrial spray stripping machines.

Based on benzyl alcohol technology, it provides effective coating removal from aluminium alloy wheels and components. The concentrate is mixed at a ratio of one part RSP01M to two parts water and operates between 60°C and 70°C.

Regular concentration testing, pH monitoring, filtration and chemical top-ups help maintain consistent stripping performance.

For aluminium components only. Not suitable for magnesium or steel. For industrial and professional use only. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.

Description

RSP01M Concentrated Spray Paint Stripper

RSP01M is a highly concentrated, water-dilutable paint stripping solution developed for use in industrial spray stripping machines.

Based on benzyl alcohol technology, the formulation has been developed to provide effective coating removal from aluminium components while avoiding many of the performance and maintenance issues traditionally associated with water-based stripping products.

RSP01M is supplied as a concentrate and offers a practical solution for alloy wheel refurbishment businesses using heated spray stripping equipment.

Key Benefits

  • Designed for industrial spray stripping machines
  • Highly concentrated formulation
  • Diluted with water before use
  • Effective removal of a wide range of coatings
  • Suitable for aluminium alloy wheels and components
  • Operates between 60°C and 70°C
  • Straightforward concentration and pH testing
  • Ongoing chemical analysis and technical support available

Dilution and Initial Tank Filling

RSP01M must be diluted before use at a ratio of:

One part RSP01M to two parts water

For a 600 litre machine:

  • Add 200 litres of RSP01M
  • Add water to reach a total operating volume of 600 litres
  • Mix thoroughly before use

The solution should be operated between 60°C and 70°C.

Stripping times will vary depending on the coating type, coating thickness, wheel condition and required level of stripping. Machine cycle times should be adjusted to suit the components being processed.

Solution Testing and Control

During normal operation, the solution will gradually lose activity due to:

  • Coating removal
  • Water evaporation
  • Chemical carried out of the machine on stripped components
  • Paint and other contamination entering the solution

Regular testing and maintenance are essential to maintain stripping performance.

At the end of every cycle:

  1. Top up the machine sump to the correct level with water.
  2. Agitate the solution thoroughly, as the product can separate while standing.
  3. Take a sample while the machine’s mixing or Swill cycle is operating.
  4. Fill a 100 ml measuring cylinder with the solution.
  5. Add one teaspoon of salt.
  6. Shake thoroughly and allow the sample to settle for 15 minutes.
  7. Measure the separated layer and refer to the supplied top-up chart.
  8. Add the required amount of RSP01M.

The required testing equipment is supplied with the first chemical order.

Concentration Guide for a 600 Litre Tank

Solution Strength Activity Level RSP01M Required
100% 20% 0 litres
90% 18% 15 litres
80% 16% 30 litres
70% 14% 45 litres
60% 12% 60 litres
50% 10% 75 litres

Adding fresh RSP01M will increase the activity level. Adding water will reduce the concentration, so both must be monitored carefully.

pH Control

The solution should be maintained between pH 1.5 and pH 3.

Both the activity and pH should be checked and recorded after every cycle. Testing should be completed while the solution is still warm, as temperature can affect the pH reading.

Adding fresh RSP01M will normally reduce the pH. If the concentration is correct but the pH remains above the required range, a separate Acid Additive may be required.

Acid Additive should only be introduced in 500 ml increments following advice from Ribble Technology. Please contact us before making an adjustment.

Machine Maintenance

For the best stripping performance:

  • Top up and test the solution after every cycle
  • Keep the solution free from excessive paint contamination
  • Filter the solution regularly
  • Maintain the correct concentration and pH
  • Thoroughly clean wheels before placing them into the machine
  • Remove accumulated paint residue and contamination
  • Completely empty and clean the machine at least every six months
  • Where possible, carry out a full clean every three months

Do not delay top-ups until the end of the week. Irregular maintenance can reduce chemical activity and lead to longer stripping cycles.

For peak performance, we recommend replacing the complete solution approximately every six months. Over time, dissolved paint and contamination can affect testing results and reduce stripping efficiency.

Chemical Analysis and Support

The activity and pH should be checked and recorded after every cycle.

A chemical sample should also be sent to Ribble Technology every month for professional analysis. This allows us to monitor the condition of the solution and provide advice on chemical additions, pH correction and maintenance.

Important Limitations

RSP01M is intended solely for use with aluminium wheels and components.

The product must not be used with:

  • Magnesium
  • Steel

Wheels should be thoroughly cleaned before stripping. Brake dust, dirt and other contamination can enter the solution and reduce its performance.

Health and Safety

For industrial and professional use only.

RSP01M is a corrosive chemical. It is harmful if swallowed, inhaled or brought into contact with the skin. It causes severe skin burns and eye damage and may cause an allergic skin reaction.

Suitable chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, safety goggles and face protection must be worn. Respiratory protection may also be required where spray or mist could be produced.

Use only in a well-ventilated area and avoid breathing spray, mist or vapours. A suitable workplace risk assessment must be completed before use.

Store in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep the container securely closed and protect it from direct sunlight, heat and sources of ignition.

Always read the Safety Data Sheet and Technical Data Sheet before handling or using this product. The end user is responsible for selecting the correct control measures and personal protective equipment.
